A SHARED LANGUAGE OF CREATIVE CONFIDENCE FOR YOUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY
We partner with entire school communities to empower educators, students, and their families to build creative confidence using our 10 Principles of Creativity.
The 10 Principles are: Authentic, Curious, Expressive, Patient, Resourceful, Present, Intuitive, Unconventional, Inventive, and Inspired.
Through curriculum, professional development, and ongoing implementation support, we will wholeheartedly collaborate with you to integrate these 10 Principles as a common language not only into your SEL work, but also in all daily classroom practice and academic instruction.
We work with school communities, such as Mosaic Prep in NYC’s DOE District 4, to provide high-quality programming to combat a multitude of challenges including chronic absenteeism.

CULTURE AND CLIMATE
Our curriculum creates a culture of confident and collaborative learning through the shared language of the Principles.
According to research by Stanford professor Albert Bandura, Self-efficacy—a student’s belief in their own capability to execute the actions needed to succeed—is a powerful predictor of academic motivation, resilience, and ablity to self-regulate.
ACADEMIC SUPPORTS
A unique feature of our curriculum is that it explicitly and intentionally incorporates the 10 Principles of Creativity into all content.
A National Institutes of Health study demonstrated that students who received SEL programming scored an average of 11 percentile points higher on standardized achievement tests compared to their peers who did not.
FOSTERS COMMUNITY
Family engagement is seamlessley built into our curriculum to demonstrate how to bring the language of the 10 Principles into the students’ home life.
A study by the American Institute of Research found that school climate and social and emotional learning (SEL) are co-influential, mutually supportive, and both required to build healthy schools.
Schools using our curriculum saw a 10% decrease in Chronic Absenteeism over a two year period

We are dedicated to rigorous evaluation of the impact of our program. One of our most important partners in developing this program has been Harvard Graduate Education’s EASEL lab. They have rigorously evaluated our program materials and we continue to partner on impact evaluation in our schools.

WHAT PRINCIPALS ARE SAYING
Choose Creativity is our school’s sole SEL framework and is fully integrated into our school community.
Each month, students, staff, and families focus on one Choose Creativity Principle, creating a shared language and set of values that strengthen relationships and foster a positive school culture.
This partnership enhances our ability to embed SEL into literacy and social studies instruction rather than teaching these skills in isolation. Students develop empathy, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills while engaging in meaningful academic learning.
I have seen firsthand the impact of these positive Principles at PS 146.
I have a student that struggles a great deal with communicating with her mother and grandmother. She has begun to use these Principles in her dialogue with them. She shared recently that her relationship with them is improving because “I am using better words to say how I feel and I am expressing my feelings in a different way.” This was a huge breakthrough for this student. This student was communicating in an intentional way – being expressive, patient, intuitive.
This really embodies the ability that Choose Creativity has to make a difference in fostering creative tools to connect with others.
When Choose Creativity presented their program, I was impressed with the presenters and the resources they shared with us.
It has greatly helped us focus our SEL work as a school community. The 10 Principles give us a specific positive language we can teach and use to praise students across the school year.
The resources are user friendly and not a big lift for teachers. The lessons are easy to implement, and the Choose Creativity staff is incredibly responsive to the needs of our school and our students.
